Good Friday (heehee)
Oh hooray for stupid jokes. I really am glad it's Friday, and I'm glad that Easter is coming up because I get to eat lots of chocolate. Yum! Not much going on with the knitting this week, since I've been working on thesis (draft due today). Hopefully I'll get to knit this weekend!

Progress
So... the final word from all colleges is back, and it looks like I'm going to U. Chicago Divinity School! We'll see what happens with the Mellon and if there's anyway I can manage to get them to knock a little bit more off of my tuition costs :) I'm also making quite a bit of progress on my thesis tonight (this post is a mini break from the massive amounts of writing and revising going on in preparation for Friday's big hand-off of the penultimate draft to official readers). I'm trying to figure out when to schedule my presentation - I'm thinking April 15th, since 3 weeks should be enough time for me to get a talk together and make a dinky powerpoint for it.
Knitting progress is slightly less visible. I've done a couple of inches on the Lauren sweater, and I'm almost through the second ball of yarn. I might have to take my sorry little bank account down to Michael's to pick up a few more to finish this thing (dangit).
Other than that, just another busy week filled with massive amounts of homework and far too little free time. Hooray for multi-tasking!

Back to the grindstone...
Only 6 more weeks of class to go for this semester. That's an absolutely terrifying thing, considering that it means in 5 months I'll be moving to the midwest or the east coast to freeze my little buns off!
Spring Break was really fun, and I did manage to do a bit of knitting, mostly finishing that pair of socks (just have to add an afterthought heel on one) and working on the top-down raglan (which is now for my younger sister because it would have taken me an extra hour or so to make enough increases for it to fit me, and I was getting lazy).
Classes started up again today, and I'm already getting back into the swing of psycho schedule craziness... better update tomorrow, when I have more than 10 minutes to sit at the computer!

One day to go!
Ah, it's finally going to be Spring Break. Tomorrow. Starting at 2:00. HOORAY! You have no idea how glad I will be to get out of here for a week. Not having to climb to the third floor of Wyatt 3 times a day...
After the three midterms I had yesterday and today, I'm definitely in need of the relaxation part of break. I'm also ready for the tons of knitting! I started a top down raglan in the round using Glampyre's pattern. It's going really quickly in a pretty burgundy wool, so I should have a whole sweater by the time I get back to campus.
I'll try to update at least once from home (yay, home!).

1 week to go!
I'm about three-quarters of the way through sock #1. I was really looking forward to having some free time to escape the homework grind this weekend. I mean, it's only midterms week :) hehe. So maybe I was a bit of a slacker, but at least I feel like I was doing something productive instead of just sleeping. And really, there's only so much studying you can do before total brain melt-down. And my feet will be cozy! Hooray!
I've also got my Noro Silk Garden waiting to be made into lovely mitts; it'll probably be a spring break project. Only 5 days until I'm home...

Look! Another Post!
I knit a whole bunch last night, since it's been ages since I've actually been able to sit down and finish anything. Ah, Spring Break, how I do long for thee... Only one week to go! And then it'll be time for corned beef, potatoes, cabbage, and Darby O'Gill. I can't wait!
While the girls and I hung out watching bad tv (could Stacey and Clinton be just a little more cruel, please?), I made a nice little cowl in soft blue yarn so that I can keep my neck warm without the horribleness of my scarves getting stuck on jacket velcro (I always feel horrible ripping them away from the coat - all of the hard work I put into those stitches, and the stupid jacket is tearing them apart!). So, for your enjoyment, here is the first ever Perknitious original pattern (if you think it's complicated enough to call a pattern...)!
Yarn: 2 skeins (or 1 working from both ends) any color Caron Simply Soft - the only nice acrylic I've found
Needles: 12" circular, size 10 or 10.5
Using two strands of yarn held together, CO 64 stitches
Join and work in the round, K2 P2 ribbing every row for 8"
BO very loosely
TADA!
Hopefully I'll be able to post a picture soon. :)
Right now I'm working on some more self-striping socks, this time with a navy base and light blue, grey, and brown stripes. Should be quite nice, if I can find time to work on them.
That's all for now.

Yeah, about that 'regular posting' thing...
The semester is going really well, but I've definitely been slacking off on the whole posting regularly goal. Oops! I'll try harder this time. I just found out today that I got into the University of Chicago Divinity School (hooray! four more years of maroon!), so I'm really excited about that. Now I have to start knitting myself some really warm stuff so that I don't freeze to death if I go there :). This is a really short post because the only thing I've been doing with knitting in the past week has been accidentally giving myself puncture wounds in the bottom of my foot by having needles strewn about my bedroom floor. Ouch!!! I did make a really neat looking pair of socks, but I think I'm going to give them to my mom for her birthday. Since I don't know how to post pictures anyway, I think I'll just leave it at that.
Also, I had my Mellon Fellowship interview, and it was really fun to spend a couple days down in San Diego, especially since I had a good time at the interview as well. Wish me luck with all this grad school craziness! :)
