FO: Curli-Q

My best knitty friend is coming to visit next week, and we decided to do another knit exchange this year. Last year we made each other mittens (I can't wait to start wearing mine again when the weather gets colder!), and this year we decided on cowls.
Jessica asked for something one the warmer side of the spectrum, more textured than lacy to keep as much heat in as possible. Though there are a number of existing cowl patterns I want to try (my Ravelry queue is full to bursting), I thought I should design something one of a kind for this swap.
Enter Curli-Q!

For the main motif, I used a cable from Melissa Leapman's fantastic book "Continuous Cables", then I added a few bits and bobs, and here's the finished project.

First, the red prototype, knitted from Knit Picks Swish Worsted in the Serrano colorway. The resulting fabric is thick and squishy, and it stands up very nicely around the neck.

The one made for Jess is in Knit Picks Andean Silk, in the Merryweather colorway. This cowl is a bit more drapey and ought to scrunch nicely inside a coat collar.
She gets here on Sunday, and I'll be sure to post pictures of both our cowls after we've done the switch.
Happy knitting!
