An elephant!

I'm working on a test knit for a friend of mine who has put together a seriously wonderful purse pattern. This is the front flap.

I made an elephant! Every time I look at it, I feel so proud. This is my first time doing colorwork while working back and forth instead of in the round, so it was a bit of a challenge, but the result makes me really happy. He has an eye and everything!

Working on this pattern is a ton of fun, because the design is so well thought out, with instructions for customizing the finished size of the purse in nearly any direction.  Plus it uses Knit Picks yarn, one of my favorites.

I'll be sure to post more photos as I get through the other panels and the strap, plus I'll probably line this guy, and you'll get to see my sewing skills (or lack thereof). For now, I'm going to go look at my colorwork elephant and smile some more.
Happy Tuesday, gang!
