Today I am grateful

This weekend did not turn out as planned, and instead involved the emergency room (everyone is fine!) and lots of stress. I wanted to take a moment to write about a few things I am grateful for, the things that made it all easier and that are making life better by the minute.
Knitting. Seriously, I don't know what I would have done without knitting while we were waiting for doctors and tests in the ER and during many other hours of sitting and waiting. I couldn't have concentrated enough to read a book, but having something to do with my hands was just wonderful.

A generous friend who lent me his car for the weekend. While we didn't get to make our planned trip out of town for shopping and consumption of Taco Bell, we got all kinds of good use out of the car. It was especially great because the weather was so awful for Friday night and most of Saturday.

Text messaging. Staying in touch with everyone was so simple, and my mom's text messages crack me up!

Warm, fuzzy cat belly. Gus has taken to flopping over on the floor for easy-access petting every time I walk in the apartment. He also decided to help me with my homework and my knitting and my food choices by climbing on top of my desk and putting his belly on my papers. Thanks, cat!

Church tonight. We got a phenomenal homily about faith ("it's not the amount of faith you have, it's the faith you use" - something I needed to hear!), and mass was followed by a delicious bbq, good talks with many friends, and a productive follow-up meeting for a program I helped run this summer.

Extra blankets for chilly nights. Snuggling down in bed last night was just the best thing ever, and I think I slept for about 14 hours.

What are you grateful for right now?

omg I'm so glad everybody's okay! And yeah, knitting is fantastic in those kinds of situations. The few times I've been to the ER it always involves wayyyy too much waiting, and it's not like you can concentrate on anything else besides just moving your hands around.

I'm glad everything is okay! In general, hospitals are good places to avoid.

Gratitude posts are always good to read. They always remind me to look around and take a deep breath. :)

I am grateful for you! You are a great friend and I don't know how I would have survived without you sitting beside me, knitting and texting!
