FO: Primavera and Beanie

What, an FO post? It feels like it's been quite a while since I've shown you anything finished. This weekend was really productive on the knitting front, so I have a couple things to share.

First up, my first completed pair of socks for Socktoberfest 2010:

Yarn: Zauberball in purples/pinks, purchased in Germany by the professor I work for and with
Needles: US1 dpns
Pattern: Primavera (Rav link)
My project page has a couple more photos.

Verdict: Beautiful! I really love the way this pattern looks in this yarn. The singles really make for good stitch definition, even in the p3tog. I'm also pretty happy with the way that the striping worked. The socks are not exactly the same, but they are close enough to pass for identical after a quick glance. I know that every time I wear these socks I'll think very happily about the fact that my prof. picked out the yarn. He also asked me yesterday how the sock knitting was going, so I have to wear these soon to show them off :)

Next up, a hat that comes with a bit of a story. I got a note through Etsy from a woman who had purchased one of my hats a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, she has lost her original hat, but she came back to my shop with a request that I make her something as similar as possible to the first beanie. Thus Oatmeal Beanie II was born!

Yarn: Knit Picks Swish Worsted in Pebble (not quite oatmeal, but still a soft gray shade)
Needles: US 7 circular and dpns
Pattern: straightforward beanie, ribbed brim to stockinette crown
Verdict: I love the fact that this customer liked her hat so much that instead of going to a regular clothing store or shopping around on Etsy, she came back to me to ask for a replacement. I'm happy I was able to oblige, and I hope she loves her new beanie just as much as the first.

Happy Knitting!
