New Pattern: Stomata Hat!

I have a new pattern for sale, and I'm really proud of it. I'm excited to share it with all of you. Here is the Stomata Hat!

This hat is named for the “little mouths” on plant leaves that open up to allow for the exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen necessary for photosynthesis and respiration (I learned something in high school biology!). I have been so inspired by the new green leaves outside in all their bright spring colors that I just needed to make a spring hat.

The orderly eyelet rows on this slouchy hat create structure and texture, and allow for some air flow to the wearer’s head, making this the perfect accessory for a cool spring or summer evening. Wouldn't this look great in a black yarn with a bit of sparkle?

Knit in the round from the brim to the crown, the hat incorporates decreases to preserve the fancy eyelet circles, even ending with a 6-eyelet flower. Make it green to stick with the plant theme, or choose your favorite solid or variegated yarn!

The pattern is a 4 page pdf file with color photos and detailed written instructions (no charts), suitable for beginners and experts alike.

Materials needed:

Yarn - Lion Brand Wool Ease Solids or Heathers (hat is shown in Avocado and Blue Heather colorways), or another worsted weight yarn of your choice to meet gauge requirements.

Needles - US 9 (5.5mm) 16” circular needle and set of five US 9 double pointed needles

Notions - stitch marker to mark start of round, yarn needle for weaving in ends, row counter if desired

You can buy it now through Ravelry or in my Etsy shop!

Thank you! It really was fun to get this idea and make it into reality (and far more satisfying than trying to write a good paper).
