I thought I'd share a quotation here from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s writings. In his letter from Birmingham Jail, he wrote,

We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right.

These words are so appropriate now, in the face of the disaster in Haiti, when so many people in the US and the world are struggling to find food, shelter, and medical care.

The particular reference to creativity has got me thinking about ways in which members of this knitting community can (and do!) use our skills to help others and to do right. This week I'll be knitting hats to donate so that some people in Chicago can stay warm this winter.
