Finally!

The crazy accelerated seminar is finally over, which means my life is about to slow down significantly. Thank goodness :) I think I can handle spending the rest of my quarter writing papers all the time, but the hectic pace of the reading for that class was giving me a perpetual headache and some serious eye strain!

Due to the crazy reading, my knitting in the last week has been pretty unexciting (excuse the not-so-hot photo). I am just using some Lion Brand Color Waves yarn in variegated purple to make a soft scarf; it's one of those projects I was able to work on while reading.

I'm excited to get some other projects finished this weekend, hopefully I'll finish up a pair of socks and stick some sleeves on that sweater - I'll have pictures soon!

A Confession

Current state of the sweater:

It's been languishing in a cardboard box at the foot of my bed (this leads to another confession, the one about how I seriously need to get some pretty storage, because these cardboard boxes are cramping my style!) for a couple of months, so it's about time for me to pull it out again and get going on those sleeves. You know, since I'd like to wear it eventually...

Diversions

Ah, grad students on a Friday night in downtown Chicago.
While the weather has been surprisingly cold and dreary here recently (conveniently making it easier for me to complete my transformation into a library gnome), yesterday it seemed like it was trying to actually be spring outside. Light coats and scarves were the order of the day as the girls and I headed out for dinner and dancing. Maybe this break, taking time to be goofy, will counteract all the reading and translating I crammed in the last 5 days...

I just hope next weekend will be this fun!

Library Gnomes (and why I am one)

You know you've been reading too many pdf articles when you sit with an actual book on your lap, yet reach up to your keyboard and hit the "page down" key when you reach the end of a page of reading.
Ridiculous. I'm spending a minimum of four hours in the library every weekday, doing readings for what I call my hyper-seminar (meets twice a week for five weeks instead of once a week for the whole ten week quarter).
Clearly I am swamped with schoolwork, but there is lots of knitting going on in the background (every break I get, pretty much), so I'll show you some socks soon.
Happy Knitting!

March Madness

That's my excuse for disappearing - I'm blaming it all on temporary insanity caused by school, social upheaval, and pretty much anything you can imagine. This last month has been crazy in many ways, but I've also got a few great things to report.
