oh my goodness, YARN

This week started out with a bang - well, actually more of a PHLOOMPH (that is meant to be the sound a giant pile of yarn makes as it plops down on your floor or desk).
Look at all this yarn!

Some of that was acquired via trade with the awesome Etsy seller KarolsTreasures. She was such a joy to work with, and I sent her two of my cowls in exchange for a whopping 7 skeins of yarn - Noro Niji (on the left in the photo above) and Berroco Trilogy (brown in the center/left, and black with silver hiding behind).  I am really looking forward to knitting that Niji up into a pretty cowl or three.
In the upper right hand corner, sort of lurking in the back there, is some beautiful hand-dyed merino-bamboo-nylon blend sock yarn purchased from my friend Lisa (Rav link).  She brought some of her great yarns to knit night on Monday, and I bought two skeins, one of which I just mailed off to my Christmas swap partner in CA.  This plummy one is all for me, though. Yum.
Down in the bottom right hand corner of the photo, you can see my own handspun.  I decided to stick with singles for this green fiber, and I'm really pleased with the way they turned out after washing and thwacking.
Here is a pre-washing photo:

I'm revising my earlier assessment of the fiber content, because there has got to be some silk in here. It's just too shiny and smooth to be otherwise! Any fiber experts out there care to weigh in? I have the second skein to wind up, and then I'll be able to show you some lovely modeled shots. I need to find the perfect background color to shoot against...
Happy knitting!
